Buyers must confirm whether the supplier uses hot press or dry press. The question should not be “How many degrees can your product withstand?” The better question is: “Do you use in-mold drying hot press or tunnel drying dry press?”
The basic answer is yes: uncoated, hot-pressed bagasse tableware is microwave safe under normal reheating conditions. Food must be inside the container. Do not put an empty bagasse plate or bowl into the microwave. Once the fiber is dehydrated, it becomes lighter and more brittle, and long dry heating may cause carbonization.
Keep 1-3 minutes as the safe range. If heating exceeds 5 minutes, check the product in the middle. Excessive fiber dehydration can reduce rigidity.
Use bowls instead of flat plates for high-oil foods. Oil transfers heat quickly, and bowl walls usually handle localized thermal shock better than flat plates.
Confirm there is no composite coating. PE-coated paper boxes and PLA-coated paper bowls may soften or migrate under microwave heat. “Compostable” does not automatically mean “microwave safe.”

Bagasse is one of the few mainstream disposable tableware materials that can meet microwave safety, compostability, PFAS-free requirements, and heat resistance above 100°C at the same time.

Bagasse tableware is not recommended for regular oven heating unless strict conditions are met.
A 120°C heat resistance claim does not mean the product can be used freely in an oven. Microwave reheating usually brings food to 74-100°C, while conventional ovens often run at 180-220°C. Microwave safe does not mean oven safe.
