After California EPS Restrictions: Molded Fiber Opportunities in North American Takeaway and Deli Packaging
California has become one of the clearest North American signals that foam foodservice packaging is losing room in mainstream channels. Under California's SB54 framework, expanded polystyrene food service ware producers needed to demonstrate a required recycling rate by January 1, 2025. CalRecycle states on its SB54 packaging EPR page that the requirement has not been met and that producers are prohibited from selling, offering for sale, distributing, or importing EPS food service ware such as single-use takeout containers and cups in or into California.
